Welcome
Introduction
It's easy to feel overwhelmed during your first few weeks at university. There is so much to learn and to learn quickly. Students often feel isolated by the experience, but you're not alone: most new students feel the same way. This CD is intended to help you discover just about everything you need to know to get you started, and to keep you going through your first year and beyond. You will probably keep coming back to it for information and even reassurance: yes, others have been there, done that, and emerged at the other end, no longer wet behind the ears.
Convenient web links allow you to access relevant pages, while the search engine will help you locate material to answer your queries. Loads of information on the disc itself will introduce you to the faculty and its ways, and to other parts of the university. You will also read how other students have resolved those questions you are now asking.
Go on, take the plunge!
Requirements
To get the most out of Dive in, you will need a modern web browser (such as Firefox (1.0 or newer), Internet Explorer (5.5 or newer), Safari (1.3 or newer) or Opera (7.5 or newer)) with JavaScript turned on.
If you have an older browser you should still be able to access all the information on the CD, however you won't see the colourful backgrounds and may not be able to use the search engine to "Find" things.
There are a small number of the documents in PDF format. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (6 or newer) to view these documents.
Notes
Links to sections of the University's website, as well as other "online" sites, look and act differently to links that go to other parts of the CD. "Online" links look like this example link to the University's website and they will open in a new window.
There are other links that also look different and open in new windows, such as these:
